Born and raised in Montr茅al, Nicolas received both his bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degree in political science from the Universit茅 de Montr茅al. Being from the mecca of hockey, he grew up with the stories of the sports legends like Maurice Richard, Guy Lafleur and Jean B茅liveau. The Richard riots of 1955 who are seen as one of the catalysts of the national awakening in Quebec and the start of the Quiet Revolution inspired Nicolas to research the effects of sports on politics both domestically and internationally. His master鈥檚 thesis 鈥淭he World Cup, PSG, and Qatar: Are Sports Diplomacy Strategies Efficient,鈥� looked to determine if sports centric strategies have any tangible effects on the country鈥檚 coverage and reputation. He was awarded a master鈥檚 level research grant from the Fonds de Recherche du Qu茅bec 鈥� Soci茅t茅 et Culture.

Nicolas has presented his research at multiple conferences like at the annual conferences of the International Studies Association, Canadian Political Science Association and Northeastern Political Science Association. He has also been interviewed as an expert on Canadian national television to talk about Saudi鈥檚 investments in professional tennis.

Nicolas is a native French speaker, is also fluent in English and understands Vietnamese. Outside of his research, he is naturally a massive sports fan, with hockey and soccer being its favourites.
