Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Sarah received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2015. Upon graduation, she moved to Washington, DC, where she worked as a patent examiner of medical devices at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. After leaving the USPTO, Sarah returned to Atlanta to pursue an MIS in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Georgia State University. As a Ph.D. student, she aims to explore how a state or firm can implement institutional reform despite that institution’s resistance to change, particularly in the context of labor or welfare reform.
