Brian Root is the Senior Quantitative Analyst at Human Rights Watch. His current research focus is on poverty and inequality and economic, social and cultural rights, as well as on US-based human rights concerns including racial justice, immigration enforcement and the criminal legal system. He is the specialist reviewer for all statistical analysis in Human Rights Watch research. He has been with Human Rights Watch since 2012. He received a BA in writing from UC San Diego and a PhD in International Development from Tulane University.
