Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Administration
Miguel is a researcher whose work deals with the intersection of public policy, health behavior, and outcomes鈥攆ocusing on issues with significant social equity implications in the Philippines and the United States. His research topics include Medicaid managed care, alcohol and opioid use disorder treatment, reproductive health services, and smoking and smokefree policies. His work has been published in several peer-reviewed scholarly journals.
Miguel is currently a PhD candidate at the Department of Public Administration and Policy. Prior to entering the doctoral program, he had about a decade of professional work experience as a researcher and consultant in government and multilateral institutions, such as the Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department at the Philippine House of Representatives, Philippine National Institutes of Health, and the World Health Organization. Miguel was also an instructor of undergraduate Health Economics and Policy.
