Study away is an important component to the educational mission of the School. In an effort to provide opportunities to students who may not otherwise have an experience away, ¿ìè¶ÌÊÓƵ offers need-based support. All ¿ìè¶ÌÊÓƵ study away program funding is based on financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid. Applicants must have filed a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form with the Office of Student Financial Aid for the 2025-26  year prior to submitting an application for funding.

The following scholarship amounts are available to ¿ìè¶ÌÊÓƵ students participating in a ¿ìè¶ÌÊÓƵ study abroad program in for the 2025-2026 academic year:

• ¿ìè¶ÌÊÓƵ Study Abroad Scholarship – $32,000
• ¿ìè¶ÌÊÓƵ Alumni Board Study Abroad Scholarships – $3,500
• John Haire Study Abroad Scholarship – $6,000
• Terry A. and Margaret P. Mathews Study Abroad Scholarship – $2,000*
• Han S. Park Fund Study Abroad Scholarship – $1,500
• Charles S. Bullock III Experiential Learning Fund Study Abroad Scholarship – $5,000* The Terry A. and Margaret P. Mathews award gives preference to students who are legal residents of Oglethorpe, Pierce, or Ware Counties in Georgia, or if no eligible applicant is from those counties, then preference is given to a legal resident of Georgia.

These scholarships are awarded to students with a declared major in political science and/or international affairs, who added their ¿ìè¶ÌÊÓƵ major no later than the spring prior to the application deadline, who have verified financial need by the Office of Student Financial Aid, and who plan to participate in and ultimately accepted to one of the following approved programs:

• Verona, Italy – Spring
• ¿ìè¶ÌÊÓƵ at Oxford – Spring
• Edinburgh, Scotland – Maymester
• U.S. National Parks – Maymester
• Stellenbosch, South Africa – Maymester
• Firenze, Italy – Maymester
• UGA a Paris – Maymester
• The Freedom to Assemble Program – Maymester
• Global Studies in South Africa – Summer
• Galway, Ireland – Summer
• Liverpool, England – Summer
• Japan – Summer
• Morocco – Summer
• The Hauge and Brussels – Summer
• MPA Program in South Korea
